Jaw Jam - Somebody 2 Luv

Pause work. Now there’s something we haven’t discussed in a while. Is there really anything better than an artist who can use space and temporality as a tool in their repertoire to combat the sonic elements of the banal and mundane? Answer, no. Well, maybe? I don’t know, at least in my opinion it’s a most definite no. Take it as you want. Anyway, Jaw Jam, a guy we’ve heard from a few times before, on LC, threw out a new lament on Saint Valentine’s Day that merely emphasizes the potentially lonely nature of the dumb, capitalistic holiday (Can you tell I’m single and a grouch? Ladies?). On the other hand, from the perspective of someone in a relationship, there are some intimate moments to be found in “Somebody 2 Luv.” Drawing special attention to the hushed, minimized vocals and the dexterously cadenced space work; Jaw Jam, at times, gets a little chopped and screwy but that’s not necessarily a turn off.
