Having released on Good Bait just this week, the single “I Wish I Knew” from indie-pop band, Years & Years, features three solid and immensely varying remixes. Placeholder, responsible for one of these said remixes, has outdone himself with this rendition. It sounds nothing like the original in comparison, and we mean that in the most thoughtful and sincere way imaginable. When you pick up the single, not only are you treated to two original pieces and three remixes, but rather five individual compostions rife with their own emotions and afflictions. Placeholder takes the track to a dark, underground domain where the only light shining in is made up of the pitch-shifted vocals. Placeholder has always been on LC’s radar, and quite frankly, this seems to be some of his most on-point work. Every layer and idea involved is so fully developed and conclusive, that after listening to it just once, you feel as if the remix was years in the making. Much respect and gratitude is in order for the producer. Pick up a copy via iTunes, and be sure to stream more of Placeholder’s work.
