5kinandbone5, despite having the weirdest tumblr in the world, manufactures some gorgeous tunes. Case in oddly uncharacteristic point, “HOLOGRAPHIC LOVE.” Sure, we give them a bad time for their tumblr’s strange aesthetic but when the duo are capable of making compositions like this, it really doesn’t matter how strange they get. From get go 5kinandbone5 opts for slightly atmospheric vocals and deadly smooth synth instrumentation, but by songs breakdown the Californian natives rolls out the garage vibes. We’ve found that an emerging trend in the production and arrangement of future-beats has been an atmosphere of openness. And by this we mean that artists have taken it upon themselves to utilize space and delicate, subtle samples in order to emphasize that less is in fact more. Here to reiterate this haunting aesthetic arrives Ambassadeurs. Transforming Fiest’s already timidly mild ballad, “The Water” into a commodious, lavish tapestry of swirling piano strokes and tambour crackles. Fiest’s spectral essence still resonates amongst the methodical composition, only adding to the already cryptic ether of the brilliant re-work. One of the most strenuous goals an artist can aim to achieve is to encapsulate his or her own sound. Once obtained, that musician has a certain “leg-up” in the game when it comes to producing. That in no way implies that the future sounds of that artist will come off as homogenous, but will rather carry with them a certain reminiscent factor of the past. Real is the poster-child of this idea. Tracing back his history in this scene, you as a listener are able to hear him as he explores new territories and concepts in music, but there always seems to be a positive root of his sound clearly identifiable in each new track. ‘Don Logan’, his newest piece after a brief hiatus working on some seriously amazing remixes, encapsulates all the aforementioned and only further solidifies his footprint in the bass-music culture. As a result of surpassing over 1000 followers on Soundcloud, he has graciously made this track available to download. Get it here.
